Our Visit to Canyon Falls: The Grand Canyon of the Upper Peninsula's Reflection on Time

Time is both limitless and limiting.

It's a really interesting statement to ponder.  Read that a few times before moving on.  Because when you truly grasp it, the marvels of this world become so incredible.

It's the statement that stood out as we traveled with friends to Canyon Falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.  With young humans in toe, we took to the trail to create some memories.   It was a beautiful day in the Upper Peninsula and we were ready for the adventure.
The hike out to the falls is a mid to moderate hike.  The hike to the viewing platform is a fairly easy hike with well kept trails and boardwalks to help pave the way.  Further past the falls the hike does become more natural and requires an awareness of your footing underneath. (Hiking shoes!  Click HERE.  We can't recommend them enough!)  (Remember, we are Amazon Affliates and do make a small compensation on qualifying purchases when using our links.  Thanks in adavance)

The falls are incredible to see.  They tumble over the edge to the river below in mesmorizing fashion.  There's a small overhang you can climb down to, at your own risk please, to view the falls from the side.  You could sit for hours in the peacefulness that is the movement of water falling from above.
Yet, there's more to contemplate then the falls alone.  For as you walk and take in the views, you see how the river has spent a lifetime cutting away at the stone across the area.  Years of erosion has exposed rock and rock formations along the riverbed.

In a sense, the canyon spent years prior to the day we came creating the moment we were a part of.  While the world moves on and people come and go, it consistently cuts away at the world, exposing years gone by and leaving one to ponder how long it took to get to this moment in time.

And as we sat and wondered about time's limitless capablities, we watched as the young humans with us came to the edge and created their memories.  We sat and we talked about how time is so limited, as the years of childhood and wonder rapidly continue to slip through our fingers.  As the river flowed around them, providing them with entertainment and exploration, we held on to the moment and paused to simply enjoy the time we were given.  The gift being we have been given the time now to enjoy what time has taken years to create.
So whatever you've been wanting to do, or waiting to do, it's time.  The best time to go is now.  The best time to visit and see someone is right now.  The best time to make the memory to last a lifetime, is the current time.

For while the river will continue to flow long after our time here, we are given only so much time to make the most of it.

It's time.
